common questions from homeowners to business owners.
Solar energy is free, except for the cost of the system. Your electricity bill will be reduced or "eliminated", strictly dependent on the design and programming of your system, roof space, and amount of battery storage. Maximum savings are derived by shifting major energy use to daytime, etc.
The prices of solar system components have reduced sharply over the last decade, with the lowest levelised cost per unit of energy for end users. It is slowly starting to increase due to government interventions, such as increased duties, etc.
There are 3 types of solar systems.
1. Off-grid: No grid connection, solar and battery only, covered by our CoC.
2. Grid-tied, 'behind-the-meter' system: tied to the grid, with no feedback into the grid, covered by our CoC. The main benefit of this setup is that it REMAINS ONLINE during load shedding, but it can also use grid electricity when required (and available).
3. Grid-tied, with feedback into the grid: Our CoC only covers the installation behind the meter. The main disadvantage of this setup is that your system DOES NOT REMAIN ONLINE during load shedding. Utilities also have additional regulations, which must be satisfied prior to approval, which generally doesn't warrant the costs. There are also monthly administrative charges by utilities which add to the cost.
A standard household has 2 major energy-intensive devices.
A) Electrical geyser: Your existing electrical geyser can be converted to "solar electricity" by installing PV panels, a controller and a timer.
B) Air Conditioners: Special inverter air conditioners are available which can operate directly from solar panels to cool or heat your home.
We assess your energy usage needs and budget, then recommend a system that fits your home or business properly — no guesswork.
Yes. We take care of the full process — from design and supply to installation and certification.
Most residential systems are installed within a few days, depending on the size and complexity of the setup.
We only supply & install new equipment with strong manufacturer warranties — up to 25 years on solar panels and up to 10 years on key components like inverters and batteries.
The simple answer is yes, but it must be 'matched' to the inverter, etc. We suggest that you should only buy a generator if absolutely necessary, and it must be capable of integration into the planned solar sysytem.
Yes — your system can be designed to keep essential power running during outages, depending on your setup.
